Orona, the fifth European group in vertical mobility solutions for people with headquarters in Hernani (Gipuzkoa), held its Ordinary General Assembly today. The meeting, held at the corporate headquarters of Orona Ideo, saw the approval of the 2024 accounts and discussed the co-operative's direction and main goals for the future in forthcoming years.
Orona's Figures in 2024
In 2024, the company's sales exceeded the 1.1 billion euro mark for the first time and grew by over 10% compared to the previous financial year. All this occurred in a complex socio-economic scenario of high global uncertainty, characterised by multiple geopolitical conflicts, trade disputes and economic slowdown in several key European markets.
In this challenging scenario, Orona has displayed a remarkable growth in its EBITDA by reaching the figure of 168 million euros, surpassing previous financial years. In 2024, Orona has once again continued its investment process by allocating 18 million euros, mainly to new technologies and R&D, with the aim of maintaining its leading position in the sector.
In the face of an increasingly volatile and complex global context, the cooperative remains steadfast in its determination to continue to shape a robust and competitive business partner project in Europe and meet future challenges robustly. In this context, competitiveness will continue to play a fundamental role due to the commitment of our staff, together with our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation. During the General Assembly, the great challenges we face, and the importance of continuing to drive strategic projects in which our personnel participated widely and actively in order to make us strong and a benchmark in our sector in Europe, were highlighted.
Orona EU 2030: Revising targets upwards
The group is represented in 13 countries and has a comprehensive presence as an actor throughout the entire value chain. As we move into the second stage towards 2030, in 2024, we have continued to make progress on our roadmap aimed at firmly consolidating our organisation at a European level, with the objective of continuing to grow and generate employment, and sharing the principles of our business partner project on the continent.
In this context and due to Orona's growth dynamics, the company has revised upwards the objectives initially established for its Orona EU 2030 objective, both in terms of turnover and in the generation of resources and jobs in Europe.
Orona Fundazioa and Our Commitment to Sustainability
For over 18 years, we have continuously expressed our commitment to the United Nations Global Compact, the world's leading corporate sustainability initiative. This reflects Orona's vision of sustainable progress, in which growth and innovation go hand in hand with responsibility towards society and the environment.
With the conviction that every action counts, and with an environmental commitment, Orona will compensate the carbon footprint generated by the holding of the Ordinary General Assembly through the Gipuzkoa Voluntary Carbon Fund promoted by Naturklima, and the Department of Sustainability of Gipuzkoa Provincial Council.
Orona Fundazioa will also continue to support various biodiversity projects promoted by local agents. Orona Fundazioa collaborates on a recurring basis, among others, in projects that are committed to fostering initiatives to promote and raise awareness of more sustainable practices from an environmental and social point of view.
